When I plug my WD Passport Essential into my windows XP my computer wont recognize it. In My Computer only the WD SmartWare disk is shown. And when i try to run that a window pops up and says that there is no writable WD partition. How do I fix this?
I have the same problem! I lost all my data from the last 10 years… and WD acts like they have no idea what could possibly be wrong… Horrible tech service, there are post all over the net about these drives crashing and they do nothing to fix it!
You can try Test Disk http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/TestDisk spme people have had luck with it.
