Unlocking externalized drive on Linux

I’ve been troubleshooting the red led of death and finally decided to remove the drive. I plugged it into my Linux machine and am able to see the Public folder and the shares, but the shares are locked. I know the user/password for each, I’m just getting stuck on ideas atm. Anyone have any ideas how to unlock these?

Hi @Culgi,

Our drives are tested only in Windows and MAC OS.

Not sure what you mean by “locked”. One can, if they haven’t already, try changing the permissions and ownership of the shares, directories and files on the drive while it’s connected to a the Linux system/computer and see if that resolves the issue.

Changing the ownership and permissions may potentially cause issues however if one plans on putting the hard drive back into the My Cloud enclosure. No idea if a 40 second reset or system only reset would fix such permission/ownership change issues. Something to be aware of.
