I have backed up my dvd collection on my 3Tb My Passport. It works fine on my laptop, however when I place the external drive on my dvd player via the usb port, my dvd player cannot locate the external drive. What can I do in order be able to watch my dvd collection with out lugging my pc around.

Make sure the DVD player supports that drive size, format, and partition type.
Is it safe to run ext hard drive on dvd player ? Because I believe there is no fail safe mechanism when we shut down the dvd player resulting in head touching the disk.
