I recently purchased a WD My Passprot Ultra for my windows 10 machine. I am however unable to install the device using the WD apps setup application on the drive (FYI, it does not come up automatically when the device is plugged in.) During the install i recieve the pop up (Unable to cast object of type “System.Window.Shapes.Rectangle” to type “System.Windows.Controls.Panel”). Additionally the WD Quick View install seams to choke every time i attempt the install. It says another install is in progress (even after a fresh reboot). UGH!!!
Have you tried Windows 10 compatibility mode ?
None of the WD Software officially supports WIn10 (only XP, Win7 & 8)

That was helpful…kind of! I was able to load the program but not as it was intended. The normal process had me download the “updated version” fron the internet during the install and that’s when it choked. I skipped the download and loaded what came with the drive and it loaded fine. After the program was loaded and i clicked on WD Security, for example, it asked if i wanted to update the program which i did without issue.
