Unable to initialize HDD

Hello,

Hello, I just got my RMA replacement 3gb Black but am unable to initialize the drive in Windows 10. Windows shows the drive as functioning correctly: Dropbox - File Deleted

And under disk management I can’t initialize as GPT at all because it says it can’t do so for under 10gb.

For MPT I get an I/O error

From what I can tell the drive seems to be physically in good condition but I think I need to find a way to completely wipe it and start from scratch. For example, Windows, AOMEI and Minitool detect the the drive albeit with problems while Acronis and EaseUS do not. I’m pretty technical and was about to consider a repair using a Knoppix Live or GParted Live USB but wanted to consult with you gurus before doing so.

Any and all guidance is appreciated!

Post screenshots (PLEASE don’t use external file shares… no need for that…) of the errors that Disk Management is giving you.

Yes, I imagine Windows would complain about formatting a 10GB disk as GPT. 10GB is rather small.
And your disk is 3TB, not 3GB, and I’ve never heard of Windows throwing that error before for drives smaller than 10TB.

Yes, my disk is 3TB, that was obviously a typo.

What I think happened is that the first initialization got interrupted. From every test that I’ve done the disk itself seems physically fine, I just want to figure out how to completely wipe it and try again but nothing I’ve done so far has worked.

And sorry to do this but new users can only attach 2 images so I’m left with no choice:

Download WinDLG and write zeros to the drive. Then try to initialize it again

Well it is being recognized by the BIOS

It’s the latest version but still 2015 since the last update.

I already have Speccy installed so…

… yeah, looks like a bad drive at this point.

Well if they think I’m paying RMA shipping cost on this they’re mistaken.
