Unable to create backup with Time Machine

I have tried everything, following the steps to make a backup, but it always ends telling me that “Backup disk is not recognized. Maybe the disk has been replaced or erased” (translation from french message).
Does it exist a real complete process to do it correctly ? Because on the manual, as frequently, you never find the problem you have…
