How are files tagged as a TV Show or Movie for the media library, I’d assume it was via the xml but I have files which are using TV Show markup that are appearing in the list of movies, what should I be looking for?
File extensions dictate where a file is going to be categorized. “The Avengers” and “The Flash S1E1” will both be listed as videos if they both have the MKV extension for example.
Some advanced themes that use XML files can sort files better, but metadata needs to be properly set within your files in order for filtering to be possible.
Thanks for this, not sure I completely understand however. The files in question are season extras of a TV show, they are all in the same folder as the season episodes and all mp4 format - the episodes are showing as TV shows but the extras are showing as movies. They both have the same file extension and the same xml markup. What gives?
If so, the metadata on the extras will need to be revised.
Yes that’s what I thought, now as I asked in my first post what exactly should I be looking for in my xml as it looks to be the same as the series episodes which are appearing as TV Shows? Is there a certain tag or command that identifies a file as a movie or tv show?
No the XML file; the metadata within the video itself. Unless your XML file uses filenames or locations then it’s using the internal metadata embedded into the video files, and there’s a tag missing. Normally, a solution would be to tag the extras as season episodes past the finale.
