My goal with this thread is for people to make their own “Homemade XML” files for TV shows and series and be able to post them in this thread so that others can download and use them.

I belive this is a long overdue and much needed thread since western digital has not enabled the ‘GET INFO’ option for tv shows / music yet.

I would like to keep this thread to strickly only posts with links to XML files so not to get it very cluttered, so that others can easily view and download the metadata to common shows that they like.

I am currently using the website www.thetvdb.com to find the info for shows and series, and i am using an XML file created by WDTVLIVE Metadata grabber application created by one of the fine members of this site(can’t remember who you are but you deserve credit as that application is amazing) , and it creates a very clean and easy to edit XML file right in notepad. And i just edit all the information that was created for one of my movies to work for a TV show episode, it’s very easy to do.

I am currently creating XML files for Breaking Bad, i will edit my post as i finish it and other new shows with links so that others may use them, and i hope that other users will chip in and post their own edited XML files for shows and we can eventually have a thread with hundreds of shows and episodes and their XML metadata’s.

Great idea

I’ve Done V 2009 Seasons 1 & 2 plus Merlin seasons 1-3.

I need to find a place to upload them to so I can provide a link.

You can use Thumbgen to create TV show xml’s.

You’ll have to wait for the pic to come up.

Just change the export in options to generate xml instead of nfo’s and after the xml is generated, change “plot” to “overview”.

Just rename your TV shows to match the filename of the XML file

Come on guys, I know ALOT of you have already created XML’s by hand or by using ThumbGEN… please contribute to the other users here who may not have the time and/or be able to understand how to use Thumbgen.

If everyone contributes we can really have something great here where people can make requests and maybe if you contribute some of your XML’s, another user will contribute theirs and possibly save YOU time. I put alot of time and effort into making all these today, so if you have some XML’s… you can create an account at www.4shared.com and upload all your XML’s for a total time of about 60 seconds, i was able to cxreate my account and have all of these uploaded in less than a minute. So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE helo out here and contribute!

Come one guys, This post has had 250 views, and only 2 people have actually put up their XML files… There are 100’s of posts of people talking about using Thumbgen to create their XML files, but even using thumbgen is time consuming and annoying. If people just start to post everyone can trade and it will save everyone time from each person having to create their own XML’s… TAKE TWO MINUTES TO ZIP YOUR XML’S AND JPG’S AND UPLOAD THEM TO 4SHARED.COM IT’S SO SIMPLE ! Don’t let this post go to waste… If every member just uploads 1 or 2 tv shows, pretty soon we’ll have Hundreds available to download…  QUIT BEING LAZY

So i can just drop these in my folder that i have on the hub and it will be recognized? cause i tried editing one of my movie files using xml notepad and it didn’t change anyting and i restarted the hub too.

Your file names have to match the xml files exactly.

Help !! This is not working at all for me??

I put the XMLs in the same folder as the respective show. Rename video files to match the EXACT name of the XMLs (except suffix of course) … and … NOTHING HAPPENS.

I have restarted, switched media library on and off to recompile - no difference??? What could this be??

I am new to the HUB, but when I did all of my movies, I had to OPTION /GET INFO for each movie manually.  I found that during the Compiling, it would add the new files so I could see them, however, it did not get Poster info.  Is this the way it works, manually??  Anyway, go to the episode, GET INFO, and see what happens.  I am currently traveling and am unable to check myself.

So far of the 3 i’ve put up, there have been 15 downloads, proving this is a good idea to share out the TV xmls.

I agree, i would also like to help, so any tutorial would help i tried Thumbgen but didn’t work for me.

Lol, i was super clear about only posting in this thread if you’re going to be posting XML metadata files, if you’re having issues using them, make a new thread and hopefully you’ll get some responses, I’m just trying to keep this thread from getting clogged full of other questions and comments and leave it strictly for the posting of Metadata files so other users can quickly and easily access them

ANSWER: Have you tried to recompile your media library, if you name the XML files IDENTICALLY to the filenames in which you’re using you should not have any issues once you restart the hub… if restarting the HUB is not working then you might need to manual clear your media library so that it can completely recompile your library. If that doesn’t work than i have no idea why it isn’t working for you… maybe someone else can help?
