The WD encryption on the USB 3 1TB My Passport Essential SE encryption was too slow so I installed TrueCrypt and that worked. However the other problems that the Passport has such as taking too long to show up in explorer and not being able to remove the WD software or the virtual CD partition are unfortunate.
