When using true Image cloning software to clone a hard drive, do I have to disconnect all USB thumb drives & printers before I start the cloning operation ???

It is not necessary to disconnect the USB thumb drive and printers. You can clone the drive without any issue while the USB thumb drive and printers are connected to the computer.
