True Image WD Edition Locking Up During Clone Process

Greetings,

I am trying to clone a failing drive, which still boots, but has a few (5+) bad sectors.  I am trying to use the WD edition of True Image, and am having a problem.

During the cloning process, during step 2 of 3 “copying partition”, True Image locks up, showing “remaining:7 minutes”.  I have this problem when TI is launched from within Windows XP, and when it is launched from a bootable CD.

Please offer up any suggestions on how to get the process past this point.

The original hard drive might be to damaged to be cloned, you can always try to use another cloning software or instead of cloning the hard drive just try to recover the files that you really need.

Also that is an older version of Acronis and not frequently updated. There is divided opininos of cloning and imaging.  Cloning tends to have more problems. Read this post http://forum.acronis.com/forum/3355 see #11 by Grover. Try making an image and see if you get the same problem. Check Paragon, EaseUS, Macrium they all  have free backup and I’m not sure what is missing from software full versions.
