Have WD TV live. Been streaming video from my office pc for years. Recently added a WD My Book for additional storage. When I try to add a directory of files to My Media Library I get an error message that can’t be added because files are read only. Files on pc hard drive are also read only and play fine. Windows won’t let me clear read only. Have tried using diskpart and changing the registry. Nothing works. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

If you move some of those files to the PC, are you able to play the files.
Also please try connecting the My Book to the media player to see if you are able to play the files
