Tips for SN770 Speed

Hi all,

Looking for some help from those more knowledgeable than me!

I have recently installed a new SN770. Ran a check on CrystalDiskMark this morning and the results are below. Not horrendous of course but would have liked to have seen it at least in the 4000s out of the 5150 maximum is states.

Is there anything I can do that might be a typical fix (bear in mind, I am very new to anything like this so have no experience of anything that might be common practise). Or is it just a case of that being a typical performance? I ran multiple 1GiB tests with all hovering around 3200 read speed and 3000 write speed.

Thanks everyone

Depending on the machine, UEFI version and many other factors can affect SSD performance

OK mate thanks, thought that might be the case

Appreciate the reply

Hi @tpciteh

Your SSD speeds look good but could be better with a few steps. Make sure your motherboard supports PCIe Gen4, as Gen3 can slow it down. Update the SSD firmware and motherboard drivers. Use the fastest NVMe slot, ideally one linked directly to the CPU.

Set your Windows Power Plan to “High Performance” and close any unnecessary apps. Also, check if the SSD is getting too hot, as that can reduce speed. Try testing with a bigger file size in CrystalDiskMark for more accurate results. Hope this helps!
