Time Machine Backups - Multiple Macs

Is it possible to have multple users on my local network do time machine backups onto the drive? I currently have it setup for one mac.

As long as the names of each machine is different, then there shouldn’t be any issues.

You might want to actually try it and or look into it some more.  I have NOT been able to use it to back up two MAC’s.  The second mac will not show the “timecapsule” share as a valid drive option under the timecapsule application.   Worked fine for the first MAC.

I do have the mycloud driive and the “Timecapsule” folder mounted.   I could actually restore from it on the second mac, but I can not set it up as a destination drive in Timecapsule set up…   Not a valid option.

If someone figures out a magic trick to make this work let us know.

OK after way too many hours, I have figured it out.  Yes you can back up multiple MAC’s.  The key is to mount the drive by the IP address, not the default “mycloud” that shows up automatically.   Put a static IP on your Mydrive and mount to it.  Then you can back up multiple MAC’s.

Good luck.  None of this technology is ever “easy”.

Cheers,
