Time difference between email notification and system log

I have a Safepoint update run at 11:00GMT everyday which works fine now after several system resets and reboots needed after the recent update.

An email notification is sent which has a time stamp that matches the time the update is run. But the system log notification shows an update time 4 hours behind!

I have checked that the system clock is set to GMT London time.

Any idea what is adrift here?

Cheers.

Hello,

When you check the safepoint, does it show all the files updated and any new item backed up?

What is your time zone?

RAC

Hi,

Sorry for late reply but I’m not getting notified of any replies.

All files updated in backup.

Thanks.

Hi,

I’m on GMT. I have checked to make sure that is set correctly on the system.

Thanks.

There is a file on the disk in directory /etc called TZ. What does it contain?

RAC

Couldn’t see a file called TZ in /etc but one called timezone had Europe/London in.

Cheers.

That is the GMT timezone. Could this be becasue the system runs house keeping
routines at three in the morning? That is 4 hours after your safepoint update. You
say the time is different in the system log. What is the name of the log you are looking at.
On my system the last safepoint was jun 12. But in the user.log the only mention of safepoint
was may 29. The user.log file was the only one with Safepoint entries.

My Safepoint update runs at 11:00am the notification on the system is the pull down option on the My Cloud dashboard.

Cheers.
