Thinking about purchase

Hi,

I’m thinking about purchasing a 2Tb wireless pro drive.
I have the following devices

  • Panasonic DMC camera
  • Sony action cam
  • Canon DSLR camera
  • Sony Hard Disk handycam

When i’m on holiday i use multiple devices on multiple occasions. I will be pretty down when I loose some of my data so I’m thinkg of doing the following. Buy multiple SD cards as my first backup and copy the SD cards the the external drive. So I should have 2 copy’s of my pics and film.
Questions:

  1. Do I need to take the memory card out of my cam to backup?
  2. Does the backup copy all the files or only media files?
  3. I’m going to backup multiple cards to the device how can I recognize the cards afterwards?
  4. What will happen if I insert a card again with extra data?
  5. What will happen if I re-use a SD card and the first use is still on the Passport?
