The version of my folders on my passport is incompatible with the version windows I am running

I saved my files on my passport using my laptop which has windows 7, then my friend borrowed it to take some files from it and to transfer them to his old laptop which has windows xp. After that when he returned it to me I couldn’t open the folders I saved using my laptop, and the following massage keeps appearing when I click on any folder :

“The version of this file is not compatible with the version of Windows you’re running. Check your computer’s system information to see whether you need an x86(32-bit) or x64(64-bit) version of the program, and then contact the software publisher.”

This is weird, this ussually occurs when you are trying to open a program but not a folder.  It sounds to me like your drive might be infected by a virus.  I suggest you to scan the passport for viruses, and ask your friend to do the same with his Windows XP computer.
