The best drive for my DAS

I just purchased a DAS (the Qx2) and i want to equip it with a 4TB drive which will be used only for making backups with Apple’s TimeMachine. Although this DAS has the ability to work in RAID mode, i will only be using it in JBOD mode.

  1. Which drive should i select to use and why?

  2. I will only be using FW800 port for data output because my mid2010 iMac doesnt have faster ports, will FW800 create a bottle neck for a 7200rpm drive and i need to look for 5400rpm drives?

note:  later on i will install a second drive that will be used for storage, must i be carefull of something incase this might create an issue?

Hello,

I recommend you read the information provided in this link:
