System Image Backup to EX2 ? Please help me out

I am using a WD EX2. have set a network share up with a user id for my spouse. he is running a Windows 7 Ultimate PC. I have mapped a network drive using his EX2 login credentials. I can copy a file from his C drive over to the network share with no problems.

He trys to do a windows system image backup (using windows software) and he keeps getting an error. “network connection can not be used”…

I tried using my Windows 10 laptop, Create Windows System Image, browse for the share name, put in his EX2 login credentials and it works perfectly…

Am I missing some switch somewhere???

Any help would be appreciated…

NEVERMIND… figured it out…

my windows 10 had the service windows backup as automatic. On the windows 7 pc the windows backup service wasn’t running. changed to automatic and backed up the system image to the NAS with no problems…

hope this saves someone else all the hours of frustration we went thru…
