Hi everyone,
I’m reaching out to see if anyone else has experienced strange write-speed fluctuations with their My Cloud Home setup when the host machine is under a heavy process load. Usually, I can sustain a pretty solid transfer rate over my local network, but lately, the Western Digital desktop app seems to be throttling my uploads to a crawl or disconnecting the mapped drive entirely.
I’ve been doing some stress testing on my system while running some blox scripts in the background to see how my hardware manages concurrent automation and file syncing. It seems that as soon as the background script activity ramps up, the WD discovery service loses its connection to the NAS, and I get a “Device Offline” error despite my internet being perfectly fine. It’s almost as if the script execution is hogging all the available system interrupts, causing the WD driver to time out.
Has anyone else noticed their external drives or NAS units struggling when there are other intensive executors or third-party scripts active on the same device? I’m trying to figure out if I should be assigning a higher process priority to the WD discovery software in my Task Manager, or if there’s a way to prevent these background scripts from interfering with the network buffer. I’m really worried about data corruption if the drive keeps disconnecting while I’m in the middle of a large backup.
Any advice on how to keep the connection to my WD drive stable while multitasking with other high-load tools would be much appreciated!
