Stuttering playback via USB

I’ve had this problem before and regretfully have not found a solution to it. Particular high-def movies - especially HD DVD’s I’ve ripped via an XBox 360 drive - stuttering or display artifacts / pixelation across the screen during playback. Comparing these files to other Bluray or m2ts files, I just can’t put a finger on what the problem is.

Device: WD TV Live Plus

Firmware: all versions

Storage: connected USB 2.0 drive from Iomega

Anyone see what could be the problem / difference here?

On a side note, anyone else have issues accessing content connected to the WDTV Live Plus via a network share or access ‘dropping’? For instance, I can browse to \WDTVLIVEPLUS\SomeMovie on my PC, see the contents, and leave it open, then come back a while later and hit refresh and get an error that the network path was not found. Do this enough and eventually, it comes back.

Thanks

If you check the manual, BDAV is not a supported codec, even if one file works does not mean the next one will. Conert the file to a combination of supported codec and container and it’ll play.

Well, BDAV is kinda a synonyn for M2TS, so I’m not sure that’s it.

All of my BD rips say BDAV, but all of mine are AVC instead of VC-1…

hi

  • is Win7 updated on your PC [xp ?]

  • wd is updated ?

  • disc - ntfs ? [yea I know - you would not load huge data like in this case into  if it is not  ]

http://www.demo-world.eu/trailers/high-definition-trailers.php  - here you have various sources/options to check

Thanks for the replies!

The fils were ripped from source via HdBrStreamExtractor then ran through handbrake using the high profile setting to an mkv container. Paying more attention to which ones skip and which don’t, It seems to be much more common with the HD-DVD movies more so than the BluRays - any tips on HD-DVD conversion that I may be screwing up?
