Stupid question, but

I apologise in advance… I admit to total stupidity when it comes to external hard drives.

I have a new “My Passport” for my Mac.

I have been making backups of all my days’ works for the past month or so.

I have not tried to see if I can fetch the information i have saved.  Where do I find instructions as to how to do this?

Next ignoramus question is : does this unit have enough power on its own to hold the data securely within it.  I have read the knowledge base and it appears that My Passport does not need an external power source… Is this correct?

Do I need to, or can I charge it from my USB connection through my computer Mac.

thank you…( if you have been able to read this without tearing your hair out.)

i do apologise once again…

i just am not too swift , technically speaking.

This is the first external hard drive I have ever owned.

ok

Hello,

You can find all the information you need on how to retrieve files from the drive in the page #48 of the  WD SmartWare User Manual

You may also check the link below to see if it helps.

How to retrieve a backup using WD SmartWare Version 1.6.x and earlier

This drive gets the power from the USB, it does not require any other power source in order to work.

Instructions on how to use your drive can be found on the link bellow:

The drive will get power from the USB port.

Is not going to “charge” since it will work only when connected.
