I have seen this issue a little bit on the boards but have not seen a fix that will work for me, so here goes nothing.
My WDTV Live has stopped recognizing my 3 TB WD My Book (which is a discussion for another time, think of a fox and I have tried it, including 3 replacement WDTV boxes). I have now plugged it into my home desktop and am attempting to stream to the WDTV using Network Share or Media Server.
With Network Share I can not access the My Book at all. So if you know a solution there feel free to comment.
So, I tried using Media Server on the WDTV and can access the drive but with file discrimination. It will not recognize .mkv files at all. I could convert the .mkv to .avi or something else but did I mention the hard drive is a 3 TB drive that is almost filled with movies, of which about half are .mkv.
So, why will the media server option on the WDTV not stream .mkv files?
