Some issues with WD Passport 1TB HDD

I’ve tried to find answers in previous topics, but I’m not very good in dealing with problems which occurs to drive. I have this external HDD for a while and it worked pretty nice, but as it filled up it become more slower which is normal I guess. However later I started experience that time to time it’s stops responding during file transfers or just during safe ejection. It also failed few times to be detected by my PC. Moreover it failed to copy some bigger files from it to my PC, I guess they were corrupted.

I have read previous topics and ran some test. I hope it’ll tell You guys more, cause as I mentioned I’m not very good in understanding this stuff.

WD’s Lifeguard tool came up with these results:

seems like there are some defective sectors on the drive. normally, they should fix themselves (reallocate) and not become unresponsive. So I think theres something else going on here and the cause can also be the USB to SATA controller. either way, since this is a pretty new drive with merely 361h power on time, you should try getting it replaced. early issues with drives points in the direction of early failure. as you may know, HDDs either fail in the first few months or years later.

P.S. there are some costly softwares you could try to fix the defective sectors. they are called spinrite and HDD regenerator. spinrite has a money back guarantee and hdd regenerator has some trial software that only fixes one defective sector.
