I have the above unit through which I play downloaded films, etc. But, it will not play either blue ray or MP4 format material. Is there a software update I can put into the unit so that it willplay the aforementioned material. Please advise.

The WDTV has no problems with Bluray… as long as the file formats are compliant.
Please post the full TEXT output of MEDIAINFO for such a file.
