Software RAID and WD TLER

Hi,

Going to buy WD RE4 drives ( WD4000FYYZ ) for Mac Pro Server in order to use it with software raid 10 (0+1).

The question is that people talk a lot on so called “TREL problem”, such as:

– TLER is supported only on hardware raid and could lead to some kind of disaster on software raid and/or desktop;

– and so on;

Is this true and i shouldn’t use these drives or it’s just ‘bla-bla’?

Searched through Internet for almost 2 days and didn’t find any concrete answer. Some people say there is no problem, some say that problem exists…

Any thoughts?

Hi, thanks.

Sounds stupid, but i cant contact wd support on email cause they propose to register their product first, which i don’t have for now and probably just going to buy.

Are there any direct email to tech support?

They have solved all my questions.

Drives with TLER function are highly recommended for hardware raid, software raid and even desktop.
