SN550 not showing in BIOS or OS

Been struggling with this for about a day. Tried all the BIOS setting the internet said should work and they don’t. Made sure SATA port 3 was empty since apparently that can be an issue but still nothing. Drive has been installed securely and doesn’t seem damaged or anything.

My plan was to initially use the new drive as storage and migrate my windows install at a later date but I can’t get my system to recognize it at all.

System:

CPU: I5-9400f
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050ti
MOBO: MSI H310M Pro-M2 Plus
RAM: 16GB DDR4 (2x8 A-Data DDR4 3000)
Storage: Kingston SA400S37120G 128GB (OS / Boot drive) + Seagate Barracuda 2TB
OS: Windows 10 Pro 64

check for a BIOS update which seems to have some semblance of help

BIOS is up to date.

reason I focus on the BIOS is that in my experience there are a lot of bugs that get fixed

The H310 is pretty low end but it should be able to boot the SSD fine

I would suggest also inquiring on the intel forum https://community.intel.com/

Yeah I thought about that and made sure to update all of my systems drivers, firmware, etc before install.

WD support staff is in contact with me trying to help. I am also going to test the drive on another board this weekend to make sure it isn’t DOA.

by all means check it with a different rig to rule out the H310 as faulty

that too

if both machines do not see it, its clear it needs to be replaced, so contact WD to arrange a RMA
