Smartware losing connection to NAS

I’m running Smartware 2.4.10.17 on Windows 7 with a WD MyMirror 6GB (firmware is up to date).  I’ve set up Smartware to run a backup from the Windows machine across the network to the MyMirror, but something seems to be timing out.  Every time I go to the Smartware panel, the Backup and Retrieve tabs are greyed out.  If I click on the WD MyMirror Drive icon, the tabs become active again and the backup resumes.  Then 5 minutes later or so, they are greyed out again and the backup has stopped.  Is there a setting somewhere to keep the connection to the NAS alive?

Welcome to the WD Community.

Have you tried setting up a static ip on the Drive? This will give you a more steady connection to the Nas.

I’ve already set it up with a static IP address.

I have the same issue.

I also have a static IP, but the issue was also occurring when I was using DHCP.

After several hours of copying files and being interrupted as described above (on/off) it suddenly stopped without completing the backup – It now shows a message stating that the backup will be completed at a later time, but it does not continue.

How can I force the backup to continue?

Same issue here.

I managed to backup 36gb of data (of the 66gb folder I want to backup), but now it is stuck and won’t complete the backup.

If I change backup from continuous to scheduled and click “Back up now” it says Back finished.

This software it truly awful.

It makes WD Awnywhere backup look amazing.

I’ve just upgraded to a My Cloud 4tb from a MyBook World Edition White Light and I wish I hadn’t.

So many problems and quirks with the new drive.
