SmartWare app will no longer open - Windows

I just bought a MyCloud EX2 Ultra and started backing up to it. It was taking forever but since it was new I didn’t think much of that. I tried to open SmartWare the next day. The graphic appeared on the screen followed by a very quick error message. The message was so quick that I had to use slow-mo video on my phone to play that back and pause. What the error message read was “Configuration system failed to initialize”. I thought to uninstall and reinstall the app and that did not help. I hate to admit also that I am relatively computer illiterate. I figured this was rather plug n play but I guess there’s more to it…?

It would also be helpful if you indicate which version of Windows you are running and if you have installed and run the software as an “administrator” under Windows.
