Slow Read/Write Speed`

I recently purchased My Book Live 2TB and updated it to the lastest firmware. My drive is connected to a gigabit router and has a static IP. While transferring data from my computer (also on the same router and a gigabit nic) I am getting a write speed of 33 MB/s while copying back data from my MBL to my computer gets me a respectable 54 MB/s.

The Wireless speeds are just dismal with write speed of (PC to MBL) 10 MB/s on a 300 mpbs router and similar read speed (MBL to PC).

I am sure the drive can achieve better throughput than what I am getting now.

My devices are connected through Cat-5 cable? Could this be holding it back? Woudl like to hear from other forum members on this.

There’s nothing the My Book Live can do about your WiFi speeds…

Probably not, I really doubt it. Those speeds are within range. Most people do not realize, you will never get the standard speeds. Big difference between standard vs actual:

Here is a nice doc explaining the gig speed. Wish there was a newer one, but you get the idea

And yes, as TonyPh12345 stated, the MBL has no wifi, so nothing it can do in regards to it. Wifi signal is all your router. Just because you have an N connection, does not mean you will get that speed, signal strenght and other factors will affect it.
