I bought a 1tb My Book Essentiaql today at Best Buy. Was told this was brainless and would normally not take more than a couple hours. So far its 4.5 hours and not even half way. So the person at Geek Squad told me, when I called a while ago that “oh, we never recommend using WD software cause it doesn’t really word. Just use Windows Explorer and do a drag and drop”. Wow! I suppose BB is WD’s perhaps biggest customer. Crazy. Anyone at WD help me out here? Or at least tell me the truth and admit your system is far, far slower than sales people advise. Help!
Yes, the BestBuy morons also tell people that WDTV Live Plus and Live Hub units will work with NetFlix in Canada, and the internet is full of horror stories of their bad information and shady business practices, and even lawsuits over their business practices.
I have no faith in anything a BestBuy goon says.
And a USB drive will be slower than an internal drive, no matter what software you use, and the time to copy files is wholly dependent on the total size of files to be moved/copied – what’s a correct answer for one person, won’t be a correct answer for another person.
What are you using for backup software? Did you go into device manager right click on the drive properties policy tab and enable preformance? I agree what little I’ve dealt with Best Buy employees they are mostly ignortant about any advanced details. How much are you trying to back up?
