Should I get bigger drives or a newer unit?

I have a WD1000C033-000 mybook drive with only 500GB. This is an older model and wanted opinions if I should replace the drives or if I would be better off replacing the entire unit with a newer model? I want to upgrade to a minimum of 2T. I appreciate any thoughts on what would be better in terms of cost and your opinion of putting new drives in an older unit.

Thanks!

It would probably cost LESS to buy a new 2TB drive than replace the drive or upgrade the one in the unit already. Also, there could be some sort of mismatch or incompatibility ; who knows. Drives have come way down in price since you bought the older one. You can find a 2TB drive at Newegg or Amazon for a good price (<$100) so start shopping.
