Should I defrag the WD Sharespace 4TB in Raid 5?

It’s been slowly filling with files that don’t change much, just get added to.

I’ve hooked it up to a gigabit switch and now am noticing that it’s does not seem to be reading/writing all that  fast.

Is there an official recommendation on defrag considering being raid 5 with the striping and all?

Can it be done within the WD Sharespace internal firmware/software?

And if now, will the windows one do, or is diskkeeper highly recommended?

Thanks in advance.

You cannot defrag a Network drive with Windows.

The Sharespace is using Linux, there is no need to defrag a linux filesystem.

Both good points.

Thanks very much.
