Sharing files on XP PC - its just not happening

Hi, I’m new to this forum and am having problems sharing files on an XP PC across the network.

I purchased my WD TV media player only a week ago and have had no luck with windows shares on my PS running XP Pro SP3. I’m using a wireless network. Everything else works fine internet connection etc and the WD TV is accessible from my PC through the network. I can also share files no problem on a laptop running Windows 7 

I ended up installing PSP3 Media Server so I can stream content (this works wonderfully) until I can sort out the sharing issues. Suppose I could leave things the way they are now but I would really like to get to the bottom of the direct sharing problems as well

Hi Fordtbird,

Check the permisions for the windows shares on the XP computer. try changing that to everyone or everybody.

How do you change the permission?

Right-click on the folder you want to share and choose “share” and then click on specific people and choose “everyone”. Click OK before exiting
