I am going to use this drive as an external before I get my new computer built. I have an old case with an esata port that my previous hard drive was in. The case is a chinese made Eaget that used to have a hitachi 1t drive in it. Is there anything I need to do to make sure it works properly like jumpering the 5/6 pins to limit sata3 to sata 2?
It is advisable to jump the drive in the pins 5/6, as this enclosure might not be able to handle the transfer speed of a SATA 3.
I am not sure if i have any jumpers laying around. Will the drive be damaged if I don’t. I just want to be cautious because I don’t want to have to RMA another drive. This is the case i have minus the HDD
