Session "ReadyBoot" stopped due to the following error: 0xC0000188

Every time I boot up my Win 7 PC I get the subject error and research shows this error is associated to my WD My Passport Essential 500 GB external USB connected drive.  If I go to properties for the WD device it states the  device cannot be used with ReadyBoost.

I am OK with the device not ReadyBoost capable but Microsoft does not have a solution to stop the persistant error.

Has anyone else seen this issue and if so resolved it? I am running Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

Thanks

you don’t still get the error when the drive is not connected do you?

Yes. The drive is connected 24/7. The error will occur at PC startup because the device is not a ready boot device, which is OK but I would like the error to stop. I could probably unplug the drive before PC startup and then plug it in to see if the error stops but that leaves room for forgetfullness.

Sorry, I did not answer you question specifically. If the drive is not plugged in I do not get an error.
