Script to launch scanning

Another disastrous aspect of the new, fabulous OS5: I need to launch at least twice a day the utility “Scan disk” because a device (specifically a PVR) now gets stuck and needs one or two minutes only to list the EX2Ultra directory I set. It wasn’t like that with OS3.
So, I’d like at least to know if there’s a way:

1. To launch a script with the command correspondent to the “scan disk” GUI utility. Is this the classic fsck command?
2. If it’s possible to set a crontimer up, so to have it launched automatically every 6 or 12 hours, for instance.

Strange question: you should give by granted that I’ve, obviously, experienced that, after each scan, the access is immediately quick as it should.
