I have a My Cloud but want to back up all the data on it incase it dies.

I presume this is what Safepoints are for?

If I create a Safepoint onto an external USB drive, is it a mirror copy of the original drive. Can I gain direct access to the information on it or is it just a file that allows you to restore a mycloud?
