Sadly, I’m leaving the WDMyCloud family

After about 3 years of great service from my Gen: 1 WDMyCloud (single bay; 2 TB) I am moving up to a more robust and feature-rich NAS. This decision has nothing to do with any issues with my WDMyCloud because I have great admiration for this box - it’s a great product as an entry level NAS. I love it.

It has served me well for these past 36 months with just a few technical issues many of which were either caused by Windows 10 or caused by me pushing the limits of this product and some cause by my failure to RTFM! And most of the issues were resolved right here in this wonderful forum by some of the long time (and very smart) gurus.

I have acquired a QNAP TS-421 4-bay NAS into which I installed 4x2GB 7200 drives set up in RAID 10. This QNAP pretty much fell into my lap at a ridiculous price so I jumped at the chance.
I will pass on my WDMyCloud to another novice NAS user. It will continue to serve its purpose long into the future.
Cheers

Cheers too, mine is the QNAP TS-431P with 32TB in Raid 6, 16TB usable :stuck_out_tongue:

but I’m still hanging around because I haven’t sold my Clouds, nor my ex2 ultras that I bought earlier this year, so legally I can still complain about my Clouds.
