Router VS hub(no Switch)

Hello.

I have a router (all wired) connected to a hub in a different part of house.

That hub feeds my WD-hub , my xbox, etc.

I am having issues with my wdlive book network drive working on my router.

Can I connect the network drive to the hub (not the wd hub) instead of router?

too much of a PIA at the moment. I did get it to work on my router.
