Hello I am using Windows 10 and can not access the root directory. I can access a usb drive and the public share portion, but not the root. I used to be able too, but somewhere Windows 10 or something else changed.

Try enabling SMB/CIFS protocol that might solve the issue:
Root was never accessible via SMB.CIFS.
If you see Public and USB shares, then you’re seeing what you’re supposed to be seeing.
If you created additional shares, they should be visible, too, but not root.
