My newly bought 2TB model: WD20EARS-00MVWB0 died recently (only lasted 2mths). So, send it back to WD for RMA. But to my surprise, I received an older model WD20EARS-00S8B1 as a replacement. This model uses 4 platters. My originally drive 00MVWB0 was the newer version, uses 3 platter. I paid slightly higher price to get this latest 3 platter model.
I am frustrated that my new HD died just after 2 mths and even worst, WD replace it with an older / slower model. Although the capacity is the same i.e. 2TB but the performance of 00S8B1 is inferior than 00MVWB0.
Is there anyway I can ask WD to replace my RMA with the exact or newer model?
