RMA: WD Red *pre* "Plus" scandal

As the title states. I bought 2 WD40EFRX 4tb red drives more than a year ago and recently purchased two additional WD Red “Plus” drives to add to the array. However, one of the original drives is beginning to fail with ~reallocated sectors and just about the same in current pending sectors. These numbers continue to grow by the hour, even taking the drive offline and performing an extended test, along with a clear, and write with 0s. This drive was produced before they started doing SMR “Red” drives and added “Plus” and “Pro” to the lineup. I’m about to ship the drive out, HOWEVER I’m worried that WD is going send me back a “current” WD Red drive that is SMR and not CMR. The current drive is CMR. Am I going to be sent a CMR drive as a replacement for this Red or am I going to get a SMR drive and throw it away?

Thanks in advance!
