Retrieving old files onto a new computer

I purchasd a WD My Book essential to use as a back up. I backed up my computer using their software. About a month go my computer (XP) died. I purchased a new computer (Win 7 home) and would like to retrieve my files from my My Book. I installed the WD software but I cannot seem to find my old computer files. How can i access these files to put them on my new computer?


Furst go into folder options and uncheck show hidden files. Sometimes that does it. Sometimes you need to run a new backup this post explains
