Retrieving iPhoto backed up on HD

Hello,

I have a macbook and I’ve recently backed up all my files to my HD. The start up disk on my macbook was almost full so I deleted years worth of photos after backing them up. How can I pull up iPhoto in the HD (Time Machine)? I can get them to pull up as ‘rolls’ but that will take me years to find everything- is there a way to get the iPhoto program to run?
