my retrieved Microsoft Office files (excel, word etc…) do not open in my newly ‘clean install’ of windows 10 (1607 )
on my own desktop, windows 10 (1511) created and backed-up files on my wd my passport ultra and retrieved into the new window 10 are inaccessible (“you do not have permission to open this file”). Microsoft tell me I have to give permission for each individual file (hundreds and hundreds - 36 GB on my passport)…which is not realistically possible. I am the only user and administrator in the new windows10.
Is there a way I can provide permission for all my office files in one go? thx

You might need to take ownership of the files.
