Retrieved File Won't Open on New PC

Good morning. I have a My Book from which I am trying to recover files after a hard drive crash. Since I have a new computer, all of the backup files show as deleted. I have run the retrieve and the file shows on the new computer. However, when I go to open the files (no matter what the file type is), I get an error message stating the file may be read-only or encrypted. When I click OK, I get a second message stating the file cannot be accessed and it may be either corrupted, located on a server that is not responding, or read-only.
