Retrieve Data from WD 5TB Drive

I recently bought a brand new WD 5TB drive. Went on holiday. Came back. My Drive does not read on my HP Laptop anymore. Reads well on my Samsung Smart TV. Ran the WD Utilities application and it miserably failed. Ran iCARE software, total fail. Ran GetDataPro, total fail. Ran iBoySoft Recovery software and managed to retrieve a small fraction of the files on the WD Drive.

However, the device still reads well and finds all my files on my Samsung Smart TV.

How can I get all my files out of the Drive and retrieve them all 100%.

The fact that the Samsung Smart TV can read it and Windows can’t, probably indicates the Smart TV has done something to the drive. eg. Encrypted it, Formatted it or Partitioned it for use in the Samsung TV. The Smart TV may also have corrupted it.

All “guesses” … but i have heard of Smart TV’s doing things (undesirable things) to External Hard Drives especially if they are not supported.

Since Smart TV’s use Linux (or a variation it) i would suggest mounting it in a Linux OS Environment to see if it can read the data on the drive.

Google … Linux Live CD/USB for Windows
