Resetting NAS drives

I have two NAS devices that are at least 5 to 7 years old. One is a MyBookLive 2T, and the other is a MyCloud 2nd gen 2T. They are intermittently work, meaning that some days they are accessable and some days not. Today they are not.
I cannot access them at all in file explorer. I tried the 4 sec reset but it’s not doing anything. I want to try the 40 sec process, but am concerned about losing data already on the drives. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
