Does anyone think this program “Data Rescue from Prosoft Engineering” can help if my portable hard drive has lost its partitiion table so now no computer can read from it? ? ? I have 4 yrs of pictures backed up onto it and need the best way to retrieve them. Thanks
I would suggest that you clone your drive and then work on the clone. Avoid writing to the problem drive.
In any case, before throwing any all manner of data recovery software at your drive, I would first examine it to determine what actually happened.
To this end, could we see the partition table and boot sector with Microsoft’s Sector Inspector?

Extract the above archive to the one folder and execute the SIrun.bat file. The procedure will generate a report file named SIout.txt which you can then upload to a file sharing service so that we can examine it.
Alternatively you could examine the partition table (sector 0) with a disc editor in read-only mode.
